Multicultural Canada

A city consists of many communities and of many cultures. The students will recognize that Canada's cities are multicultural and that the First Nations were in Canada long before European settlement. Contents include: List of Resources, Student Objectives, Multicultural Faces of A City, Making The Big Book, Story Patterns, Read The Story, Joseph of Ukraine, Preparing The Flannelboard, Telling The Story, Story and Flannelboard Patterns, and Additional Reading. Students will realize that Canada is multicultural, that some people who live in Canada came from other countries, that people of the First Nations lived here long before us, will listen to a story, will participate in a class discussion, and will locate different countries on a map or globe. This Canada lesson provides a teacher and student section with big book pattern, and flannelboard story to create a well-rounded lesson plan.
